The Importance of a Trademark
Most companies trademark their name or brand in order to protect it. Trademarks offer a good way for a business to communicate to their customers. Within the modern social media landscape, it means that prospective clients can easily find and identify your company. There is a reasonable fee for registering, but the returns on such a small investment are well worth it.

Is It Difficult To Register A Trademark?
The process of applying for (and being approved for) a Federal Trademark may be pretty simple if you’re applying for an uncommon or made-up word or phrase, especially if they have no meaning or context outside of branding or marketing your product or service.

If the Trademark you wish to be awarded is for a common or descriptive term, the process becomes much more difficult.  It may also be beneficial to hire a professional trademark attorney, especially if it is deemed that your mark is merely descriptive. A mark is merely descriptive if it describes an ingredient, quality, characteristic, function, feature, purpose, or use of an applicant’s goods and/or services. Trademarks require renewal every 10 years in order to stay active.
